Background

Our client, which specialises in the manufacture and installation of bio-energy plants, recycles bio-based waste to produce electricity and heat. Its plants operate in cogeneration mode, producing these two forms of energy simultaneously.

The Gasification Unit (UGZ)

Biomass gasification is a complex process that converts plant matter such as wood into synthetic gas. The process involves four successive stages: drying, pyrolysis, oxidation and reduction. The UGZ is crucial to this process, converting wood into syngas, which is then used to produce heat on its own or combined with electricity.

The Energy Production Unit (UPE)

The UPE uses the gas from the UGZ to produce heat and electricity. A gas engine coupled to an alternator generates the electricity, while a heat exchanger cools the gases before they enter the engine to produce heat.

The AA Biomasse conveyor

AA Biomasse designed an electro-galvanised belt conveyor to feed the UGZ. This conveyor transports wood chips stored in a storage module to the gasification unit as required. Fully automated and suitable for outdoor use, the belt is electro-galvanised to withstand climatic conditions. A flange at the rear of the conveyor allows the length of the conveyor to be extended to increase the capacity of the bioenergy plant by adding an additional storage unit.
