The AA-Biomass project
In the context of an increasingly urgent energy transition, all types of renewable energy are rapidly expanding. One of them, capable of generating several forms of energy, is widely used across many processes and projects. This is Biomass.
Energy from biomass is a renewable energy source that relies on the cycle of living plant and animal matter. This energy can be used to generate electricity through the heat released by burning these materials (wood, plants, agricultural waste, organic household waste) or from biogas produced by the fermentation of these materials in biomass power plants. The waste is burned directly to produce heat, electricity, or both (cogeneration). This includes wood, waste from wood processing industries, and agricultural plant residues (straw, sugarcane, peanuts, coconuts, etc.).
In France, 10% of electricity production from biomass comes from biogas combustion. Several power plants generate electricity from biomass, mainly from wood. They are usually located close to the storage sites of the waste. Wood is also used for collective and industrial heating. Biomass energy emits almost no pollutants and does not contribute to the greenhouse effect. The amount of CO₂, a greenhouse gas, it releases corresponds to the amount absorbed by plants during their growth.
Moreover, converting biogas into electricity prevents methane, another greenhouse gas, from being released into the atmosphere. It represents a significant energy potential, mainly from landfills, but also from sewage sludge and urban and agricultural waste. Today, only a quarter of this potential is actually used for electricity and/or heat production.

Gasification is an innovative process in the field of energy production, located at the intersection of chemistry, process engineering and energy. This process transforms carbonaceous materials.
Hydrogen production
The production of hydrogen from biomass represents a promising avenue in the transition to a more sustainable hydrogen economy. This process is called biomass reforming.

Biomass-based renewable energy processes encompass various technologies aimed at harnessing bio-based organic matter to produce energy sustainably.
Each of these installations uses equipment that must be continuously supplied with biomass.
This biomass therefore needs to be stored, measured, and distributed according to demand.
The Toploader is the best solution, coupled with a conveyor, to perform all these functions. It is very simple to implement.
It allows for the storage and dosing of multiple materials such as wood chips, shredded wood, sawdust and bark, compost and peat, fertilizers, recycled plastics, grains and pellets, coal, slag, and more.
It can therefore serve a wide range of installations and sectors, including biogas production, biomass processing, energy from waste, pyrolysis, hydrolysis, agriculture, greenhouses, and more.

We have used AA Biomass toploaders on several occasions in our installations. They are well suited to some of our boiler room configurations.
Heizomat boilers are robust and versatile, so they can accept abundant fuels such as miscanthus.
The combination of top loader and boiler makes a lot of sense, and we've had no major problems installing and using AA Biomass systems with our boilers.
